This street painting was in honor of my recently deceased grandfather. He was well loved by me and my family and died several days before the festival. Seeing as how I could not make it, I chose to do artwork in his honor.
Grandfather- This part of the drawing was taken from a b/w picture I had taken of him a few years back.
The Skull- Our bodies are dust, we will all pass away eventually. This is not meant to be morbid, but is a sign of our mortality.
The Cornfeild- My grandfather was a farmer, its a simple representation of his life.
The Red Swirl- Its coming out of his mouth (a traditional belief as to how the spirit leaves the body) and flowing out into the spirt world/ after life.
Moon/Night Sky- I find this to be the most peaceful time of any given day, and the most spiritual.
